Zodiac Maritime and the China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association (China P&I Club) have signed a cooperation framework agreement to strengthen collaboration across the shipping and marine insurance sectors.
The signing ceremony was held at CPI’s Shanghai headquarters. Xu Lirong, Chairman of China P&I Club; Daniel Ofer, Chief Executive Officer of Zodiac Maritime; Ren Yongqiang, CPI board director, Assistant General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING and Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation; and Tao Weidong, CPI board director and Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Lines, witnessed the signing.
Luca Dessy, Head of Tankers — Crude and Products at Zodiac Maritime, and Song Chunfeng, Managing Director of China P&I Club, signed the agreement on behalf of the two organisations.
Under the framework, both sides will closely track emerging trends in the shipping and marine insurance markets, combine their respective strengths, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly respond to industry challenges while identifying new development opportunities. The two parties will also promote the integration of high-quality resources and explore new cooperation models and pathways.
Zodiac Maritime formally joined China P&I Club in February 2026 as its first member from the United Kingdom. The membership and this framework agreement mark the continued optimisation of CPI’s international business portfolio and its growing market competitiveness, reflecting the steady improvement of the Club’s underwriting capabilities and global services.
China P&I Club will continue to pursue its strategy of professionalism, market orientation, internationalisation and digitalisation, deliver higher standards of professional service to its global members, and contribute to the high-quality and sustainable development of the shipping industry.
