CPI Becomes Founding Member of International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance
China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association (China P&I Club) has been named a founding member of the International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance, which was formally launched during the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2026.
The Alliance held its first general assembly in Beijing on September 21. Mr. Li Xinghu, Vice Minister of Transport, addressed the gathering, and Mr. Fu Xuyin, former Vice Minister of Transport, was elected as the inaugural chairman of the Alliance. Mr. Xu Lirong, Chairman of CPI, attended the assembly.
Co-initiated by the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center together with COSCO SHIPPING, CMA CGM, China Energy Engineering, Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) and other organizations, the Alliance is the world’s first non-governmental international organization dedicated to cooperation on international green shipping corridors. Its founding membership includes 45 leading companies and organizations from 12 countries, covering multiple segments of the green maritime industry chain.
The Alliance aims to foster global collaboration on green shipping development, align domestic regulations with international standards across green vessels, fuels and ports, and deliver high-impact demonstration projects to advance the industry’s sustainable transformation.
CPI will leverage its membership to refine its strategic positioning, closely track emerging demand arising from the maritime energy transition, and deepen its international partnerships and influence.
Mr. Xu Lirong also attended the Forum’s opening ceremony and plenary session on September 22. Mr. Jia Peng, Deputy Managing Director of CPI, participated in related events.
