CPI Hosts Regional Seminar

On 28 April 2021, the CPI Regional Seminar was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Over 20 members in the Jiangsu region and 50 representatives of potential members attended the seminar. CPI Deputy Managing Director Mr. Gong Xiqian attended the seminar and made a speech. CPI General Manager of Loss Prevention Department Mr. Chen Xuefeng hosted the seminar.

At the seminar, CPI Deputy Managing Director Mr. Gong Xiqian expressed his sincere gratitude for the trust and support of members over the years. He said CPI receives industry recognition in terms of business scale, management, and finances. CPI will continue to deepen the “four-wheel-drive” service concept of underwriting, loss prevention, claims settlement and compliance so as to provide professional, systematised, and efficient services to our members.

In the following section, the Official of the Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration Emergency and Pollution Response Department Mr. Fei Zhongqiang shared a special topic on Vessels Pollution Prevention in the Jiangsu Model. Personnel from CPI shared pressing issues and engaged in in-depth discussions. The speakers Captain Wang Yong from Loss Prevention Department, Mr. Phillippe Liu from FD&D & TCL Department, Mr. Carl Pang from Claims Department I, and Mr. Loyd Sun from Claims Department II discussed topics respectively on “the Elements Affecting Vessels Navigation Safety in Restricted Waters Concerning the EVER GIVEN Ship Grounding Case”, “A Series of Q&A on Fuel Quality Issues, Speed Claims, etc.”, “the Legal Status of Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association in the Oil Pollution Damage Compensation Regime”, and “Handling of P&I Cases During COVID-19”.

The seminar was compelling and well-received. Participant feedbacks were that the seminar is highly targeted, instructive, and practical in that it pays close attention to industry dynamics and members’ needs. The seminar is significant to the safety management and risk prevention of vessels, which will improve the service provided to members, and help CPI build a first-class service brand that provides a communication and cooperation platform for members in the industry.
