Delegation from CPI led by Managing Director Mr. Song Chunfeng visited the Secretariat of the International Group of P&I Clubs
In the morning of 9 May local time, Managing Director Mr. Song Chunfeng, Underwriting Director Mr. Piao Junlong, General Manager of Strategy & Development Department Mr. Jia Peng, General Manager of CPI Services (UK) Ltd. Mr. Cao Shufeng and Senior Claims Manager of CPI Services (UK) Ltd. Mr. Peter Gulvanessian paid a visit to the Secretariat of the International Group of P&I Clubs (hereinafter referred to as the IG). Executive Officer Andrew Bardot and David Baker from the Secretariat, Chairman of the Steamship Mutual Gary Rynsard and Deputy Chairman of the UK P&I Club Nigel Carden gave a warm reception to the delegation from CPI.
Mr. Song Chunfeng introduced the history and key development plans of CPI, the functions of CPI Services (UK) Ltd., as well as the rewarding cooperation between the IG clubs and CPI. In addition, Mr. Song Chunfeng highly appreciated the important role the IG has played in the international shipping industry, and aspired to strengthen cooperation with the IG and its members. Impressed by the achievements CPI has made, Andrew Bardot briefly introduced the Secretariat. David Baker talked about the agenda items of the 105th session of the IMO Legal Committee including autonomous ships, and said that he would keep an eye on the ongoing amendment to the Maritime Code of the People's Republic of China.
After discussing the United States' decision to cease its participation in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and to re-impose sanctions against Iran, as well as issues like the recognition of the IG clubs' LOU, both parties expressed their shared aspirations to further strengthen communication and promote mutual development.
