CPI Hosted Seminar in Singapore

On 14 August, CPI hosted a half-day seminar in Singapore. Being the Association’s board member, Messrs. Cheng Xin Ship Management Ptd Ltd. now plays an important role in strengthening the Association’s presence in Singapore.

 

In this half-day in-house workshop and case study that is specially dedicated for the members, Mr. Li Zhenjiang, the Hull Director, delivered a presentation on the topic of Marine Insurance, addressing a number of issues regarding ship’s operation and related insurance arrangements, aiming to help the members to have a better understanding of the concept of marine hull, P&I, charterer’s covers, FD&D, and Mortgagee Interests Insurance as well as Innocent Owners Interests Insurance, etc.  He also introduced the Association’s new loss prevention campaign, consisting of a series of workshops, shipboard training program to crew members, claims handling process, and emergent response processes. Afterwards, Mr. Wu Jianping, Deputy General Manager of the Association’s Hong Kong based claim services company- Messrs. China P&I Services (Hong Kong) Ltd., presented his study on some important issues concerning claims for personal injury, death and related legal practice. He particularly addressed the issue of Hong Kong law and practice and interpreted the potential risks that a shipowner is likely to take and the relevant insurance solution.

 

In addition to the CPI delegates, Ms. Celia Chew, Deputy General Manager of Cheng Xin Ship Management Pte. Ltd. and a number of their section chief and business managers participated in this workshop. During the second half of the seminar, an open discussion was held on some hot issues and particularly on a number of operational issues besetting the shipping community for years. At the end, Chen Xin Ship Management Pte. Ltd. indicated that they very much valued this type of face to face exchange seminar and believed members will benefit from such type of mini-seminar.

 

This is a pioneer practice that the Managers of the Association hosted a face to face business exchange and workshop for one single overseas members. Following the success, the Association hopes to arrange more similar on-site seminars in the future, as a part of the loss prevention campaign in order provide members with high quality, high efficiency and professional loss prevention services.
