Deputy Secretary-General of CMAC Ms. Xie Changqing Leads Visit to CPI for Meeting and Seminar

24 July in the morning, Deputy Secretary-General of CMAC Ms. Xie Changqing led a visit to CPI and held a special seminar on “the Developments, Characteristics and Practical Examples of China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC)”. CPI Deputy Managing Director Mr. Liu Yutong, Deputy Managing Director Mr. Gong Xiqian and relevant personnel held a meeting with Ms. Xie and her entourage, in which both parties discussed means to increase communication and explored new areas of cooperation. Deputy Secretary General of CMAC Shanghai Sub-Commission Ms. Xu Fei, Case Manager of CMAC Shanghai Sub-Commission Mr. Jia Yunpeng, Case Manager of CMAC Ms. Zhou Yulin attended the meeting.

 

Deputy Managing Director Mr. Liu Yutong expressed his warm welcome to the visit led by Ms. Xie, and gave an introduction of CPI. Mr. Liu said that both parties have enjoyed a long-term scholarly exchange, many CPI staffs hold positions as members and arbitrators of CMAC. Maritime arbitration is an important means to conflict resolution, therefore he urged both parties to increase communication, improve industry recognition, work together to push for the development of China’s maritime commerce and expand its global influence.

 

Deputy Secretary-General of CMAC Ms. Xie congratulated the success of CPI over the years. Ms. Xie said that both parties are high-end maritime service organizations and are dedicated to providing professional and efficient service and solutions to the shipping industry. She hopes that both parties could work closely, communicate on pressing topics relating to the field, utilize advantageous resources and platforms from each party, collaborate in different forms and contents, and collectively push forward the construction and development of China’s maritime center.

 

Following the meeting, Ms. Xie gave a special presentation on the advantages of arbitration in conflict resolution, different arbitration clauses, the development of Chinese maritime arbitration and listed various practical examples. A Q&A session followed the presentation.

 

CPI Director of Claims Mr. Peter Zhou, Deputy Director Ms. Xue Xuemei, Deputy Director and General Manager of Claims Ms. Lily Yan, General Manager of Loss Prevention Mr. Chen Xuefeng and other staffs attended the meeting and seminar.
