CPI Hosts 2019 Sanctions Training Seminar
24 October in the afternoon, CPI hosted the 2019 Sanctions Training Seminar in the Shanghai North Bund International Shipping Service Center. Over 100 member representatives and CPI staff members attended the seminar. CPI Deputy Managing Director Mr. Gong Xiqian delivered the opening speech and hosted the seminar. Mr. Gong pointed out that international sanctions are continuously developing within a complex landscape with new sanctions being imposed, and the shipping industry and marine insurance community is faced with more direct and serious sanctions risks. The purpose of the training seminar is to provide member shipowners with the latest news and help them prevent or mitigate sanctions risks.
CPI Legal and Compliance Director Mr. Jia Peng gave an overview of international sanctions and updates on their latest developments, as well as provided advice on sanctions compliance issues in corporate management under the current sanctions regimes. CPI Strategy & Development Department Senior Compliance Executive Mr. Wilson Li gave a special lecture on U.S. Sanctions, where he listed the targeted countries of the moment and the specific regulations. A Q&A session ensued, where attendees exchanged their views on pressing topics relating to sanctions.
The training seminar was well received by attendees because sanctions is a very important subject at the moment. The seminar content was very targeted, educational and practical, which greatly raised the awareness of international sanctions for members. Members used this opportunity to learn more about sanctions regimes, methods of strengthening internal sanctions compliance and effectively manage risks.
