CPI Managing Director Dr. Song Chunfeng Leads Visit to the Secretariat of the International Group of P&I Clubs
24 September 2019, CPI Managing Director Dr. Song Chunfeng led a visit to the Secretariat of the International Group of P&I Clubs (IG) in London, England. Dr. Song and his team met with the newly appointed CEO of the IG Mr. Nick Shaw and Mr. David Baker.
Mr. Nick Shaw welcomed Dr. Song and his team, and expressed his appreciation for the visit from CPI. Mr. Shaw said that there is currently a great arrangement in place between the two parties, and CPI has created partnerships with some of the biggest stakeholders of the IG. Mr. Shaw recalled visiting the CPI Hong Kong specialized service office, China P&I Services (Hong Kong) Ltd., and was impressed by the professionalism and quality of service provided there. Mr. Shaw anticipates more exchanges and visits to CPI and its global offices in order to explore new areas of cooperation.
CPI Managing Director Dr. Song Chunfeng expressed his appreciation for the IG, and provided the latest report on the developments of CPI. Dr. Song said that CPI would continue to partner with the IG on key issues such as sanctions. CPI would communicate closely with the IG, and refer to relevant rules and regulations from the IG as guidelines. Dr. Song hopes that both parties could increase cooperation especially in areas of information and technology to create a win-win situation that will eventually lead to improvements in service for members.
Shortly afterwards, both parties exchanged views on key international marine insurance topics including the IMO 2020 Sulphur Cap, Ship-Source Oil Pollution, Carriage of Undeclared Dangerous Goods, Soya Bean Cargo Damage Claims and the International Reinsurance Market.
CPI Compliance and Legal Director & General Manager of Strategy and Development Department Mr. Jia Peng, CPI Services (UK) Ltd. General Manager Mr. Cao Shufeng and In-house Solicitor Mr. Peter Gulvanessian were also in attendance.
