CPI Hosts Online Loss Prevention Seminar Regarding COVID-19
On 29 April 2020, CPI hosted a Loss Prevention Seminar regarding COVID-19 in the Shanghai headquarters via online meeting. Over 200 members and industry insiders participated the seminar via teleconference. CPI Managing Director Dr. Song Chunfeng, CPI Deputy Managing Director Mr. Liu Yutong, and CPI Deputy Managing Director Mr. Gong Xiqian also attended the seminar.
CPI Deputy Managing Director Mr. Gong Xiqian delivered an opening speech, in which he pointed out that COVID-19 is gravely threatening all the industries around the world including the shipping industry. Only by cooperating closely and coping mutually can we successfully overcome the hard time and resolve problems. It was the first time for CPI to hold online seminars, which indicated the efforts of enhanced communication and cooperation within the industry. In order to minimize the impact of the pandemic on our services, CPI fulfilled the purposes of providing wholehearted service to members, paying attention to solving difficulties, taking preventative measures, and accelerating work resumption and business reopening.
At the seminar, personnel from CPI and Steamship Mutual shared pressing issues and engaged in in-depth exchange of ideas and discussions. The speakers Mr. Phillippe Liu from the FDD & TCL Department, Captain Wang Yong from the Loss Prevention Department, Mr. Victor Ma from the Hull Department, Mr. Loyd Sun from the Claims Department, and Mr. Eric Wu from Steamship Mutual discussed topics respectively on Legal Risks of Charter Parties Regarding COVID-19, Crew’s Mental Health and Stowaway Issues, the Impact of the Epidemic on Salvage and Repairment of Hull Insurance, P&I Cases Handlings during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and Relevant Issues of P&I for Cruises.
The online seminar was well received by members because it addressed issues of high concern in the world today – the topics are highly targeted, specific and practical. The attendees were expected to maintain communication and cooperation on the relevant issues to further form strong synergies to beat the pandemic.
