On April 6, captains of the Association’s loss prevention department and its underwriting and claims managers visited ship SHANDONG MIGHTINESS of its Member Shandong Shipping Bulk CO., LTD at Taicang Port, accompanied by the ship’s master and the Member company’s representatives. It’s the first time, since the global outbreak of Covid-19, that the Association attends onboard a VLOC, which also marks the recommencement of the Association’s ship visit service. Cloud ship visits remain an alternative for entered ships that cannot be attended.

During the visit, the Association’s managers first introduced the purposes of ship visits, the importance of interaction with frontline seafarers and the Association’s P&I and hull insurance products. Several slides were then played to share some cases of personal injuries and cargo damage. The Association’s publications including Loss Prevention Brochures and Bulletins were given out to the ship’s master. An inspection tour was carried out to cover the bridge, the main deck, the cargo and machinery spaces and safety concerns were addressed right away during the tour.

The Association will continue to optimize loss prevention services to help minimize risks for the Members.
